Full tear-off and deck rebuild
A re-roof that turned into a rebuild. Once the old shingles came off, the decking underneath had rotted through in long runs along the eaves and the fascia had gone with it. Here is the whole job, in order, including the parts most companies do not photograph.

01 The house on tear-off day Old system stripped, dry-in underway. Front porch, low-slope wing, and main hip all had to come off together. -
02 What was under the shingles Decking rotted through to the rafters with the insulation exposed. This is the part a shingle-over would have buried for another twenty years. -
03 Fascia gone at the porch Water had been tracking behind the gutter long enough to take out the fascia board and the deck edge behind it. Replaced, not patched. -
04 Down to the rafters Bad decking cut out in full sheets back to solid framing. Note the tarp — the porch and the railing stay covered the whole time. -
05 New decking down Fresh sheathing, properly gapped and nailed to the rafter layout. A roof is only as good as what it is fastened to. -
06 Protecting the property Tarps over the landscaping and the porch rail for the length of the job, and magnets across the yard before we pull out. -
07 Synthetic underlayment Elite synthetic underlayment over the new deck — not felt. It stays put in wind and it does not wrinkle when it gets wet. -
08 Dried in Roof watertight and ready for shingles. At this point the house is safe even if the weather turns. -
09 Ready for shingles Full dry-in across the main roof, the porch, and the low-slope section, with new fascia run and painted.
